{"id":1060193,"date":"2026-05-27T16:35:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T16:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ufp.pt\/?p=1060193"},"modified":"2026-05-27T16:35:24","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T16:35:24","slug":"inauguration-of-the-ufp-rectorate-for-the-2026-2029-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ufp.pt\/en\/tomada-de-posse-equipa-reitoral-ufp-trienio-2026-2029\/","title":{"rendered":"Inauguration of the UFP Rectorate for the 2026\u20132029 term"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"1060193\" class=\"elementor elementor-1060193\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4fb7c81 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"4fb7c81\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-60e3e7b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"60e3e7b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Fernando Pessoa University held the inauguration ceremony for the new Rector\u2019s Team in its auditorium, at a session chaired by the Rector, Prof. Eug\u00e9nio Campos Ferreira, and the President of the Fernando Pessoa Foundation, Prof. Salvato Trigo.<\/p><p>The ceremony, held on May 22nd, brought together lecturers, researchers and collaborators of the institution, marking the start of a new era for Fernando Pessoa University, characterised by a commitment to research, innovation and internationalisation, promoting greater integration and proximity to the academic community.<\/p><p>They took office:<\/p><p>\u2022 Prof. Dr Feliz Gouveia, as Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation;<\/p><p>\u2022 Prof. Ana Fonseca, PhD, as Vice-Rector for Education, Academic Organisation and Pedagogical Innovation;<\/p><p>\u2022 Prof. Paula Mota Santos, PhD, as Vice-Rector for Culture, Social Responsibility, Regional Relations and International Cooperation.<\/p><p>Professor Feliz Gouveia holds a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto and a PhD from the University of Technology of Compi\u00e8gne in France. He has been with Fernando Pessoa University since 1996, working in the fields of computer science, innovation and technological development. Since 2019, he has served as Director of the Faculty of Science and Technology at UFP.<\/p><p>Professor Ana Fonseca, who holds a bachelor\u2019s and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto, is an Associate Professor at UFP, where she has been teaching for over 30 years. She conducts research in the fields of sustainability and environmental management and is a full member of the RISE-Health research centre.<\/p><p>Professor Paula Mota Santos holds a degree in History, specialising in Archaeology, from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Porto, a Master\u2019s degree from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, and a PhD in Anthropology from University College London. Her academic work focuses on the fields of heritage, tourism, social identities and international cooperation.<\/p><p>The new Rector\u2019s Team is part of the new rectorate term led by Prof. Eug\u00e9nio Campos Ferreira, Rector of UFP since March 2026.<\/p><p>He holds a bachelor\u2019s and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto, and has conducted research at the Universit\u00e9 Catholique de Louvain, undertaken postdoctoral research at the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona, and spent a sabbatical at the University of California, San Diego.<\/p><p>He has been a Full Professor in the Department of Biological Engineering at the University of Minho since 2010, having begun teaching there in 1991. Between 2019 and 2025, he served as Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at the University of Minho.<\/p><p>He has held various academic and scientific leadership roles, and has also chaired the National Council of the College of Chemical and Biological Engineering of the Portuguese Engineers\u2019 Association. He is currently co-coordinator of the national chapter of CoARA \u2013 Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment.<br \/>He has served as Vice-Chancellor of Fernando Pessoa University since 16 March 2026.<\/p><p>Fernando Pessoa University congratulates the new Rector\u2019s Team and wishes them every success in furthering UFP\u2019s academic, scientific and institutional mission, in close collaboration with the institution\u2019s teaching staff, researchers and staff.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
