The EUSecure MOOC – Interdisciplinary Online free Course with Certificate on EU Security, Resilience, and Sustainability

The EUSecure MOOC is now freely accessible and available for external and internal participants.

The core of our project is the development of a simulation-supported HEI-level Massive Open Online Course entitled “Interdisciplinary Training on EU Security, Resilience, and Sustainability” (EUSecure SimMOOC) – that also appears as an accredited elective in our universities’ curricula.

– To get the certificate for the EUSecure MOOC, please note the following: there are 18 modules in the MOOC.

– To obtain the certificate, you are asked to listen to the pre-recorded lectures, read the exercises, and complete the quiz exercises of at least 6 modules (you can choose, but the first 3 are mandatory).

– The successful accomplishment of each module is proven by at least 60% achievement at its tests and the final examination.

The EUSecure Project was launched in 2020 under the leadership of the National University of Public Service (NPS) and with the participation of the University of Piraeus, Greece (UNIPI), the Fernando Pessoa University, Portugal (UFP), the University of Salento, Italy (UNISAL) and Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania, Romania (SAPIENTIA).

The European Union funds the project under the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership in Higher Education program. Working within a three-year timeframe, EUSecure’s main objective is to educate the new generation about current and future security challenges in the EU.

The main mission of the EU-founded

To achieve these three key objectives, in addition to the creation of the transdisciplinary elective course (EU Security, Resilience, and Sustainability), the EU-funded project aims to develop a SimMOOC (Simulation supported Massive Open Online Course) and EULite, the secondary school version of the course as mentioned above, to achieve its stated objectives successfully.

Additionally, to these intellectual outputs of the EUSecure project, the partner organizations agreed to develop two learning, teaching, and training activities to pilot and beta test the SiMOOC course: the Summer School in Lecce in 2022 and the Winter Seminar in Piraeus in 2023. EUSecure project can be summarized in three key points, which are the following:

1. To raise awareness among young people on emerging security challenges.

2. To train the intellectuals of the next generation to make decisions and search for sustainable solutions to these challenges.

3. Form a more resilient society that can effectively foresee and address security issues.
