On March 17th, students from the Master's program in Psychology of Justice participated in an open class, as part of the curricular unit "Psychological Prevention and Intervention Programs," taught by Professor Ana Isabel Sani.
The initiative, entitled "The role of the forensic psychologist in supporting children and young people in the child protection system with foster care measures," had as its general objectives the deepening of knowledge and skills in providing psychological support to children and young people at risk and/or in danger, particularly those who have been placed in foster care, enabling students, in particular, to learn about the intervention practices of forensic psychologists.
The open class was based on a practical session that followed a theoretical-practical class, in which Professor Ana Isabel Sani presented models, programs, and intervention strategies. To further enrich the activity, students also benefited from the presence of a guest speaker, Dr. Daniela Cunha, Master in Psychology of Justice from FP, and the National Coordinator for Family Foster Care, Dr. Miriam Gonzaga. These additional contributions allowed for discussions on key areas of action, challenges, and projects that can be developed in the field of psychosocial support.
Fernando Pessoa University would like to thank Professor Ana Isabel Sani for organizing this initiative, which is so important for the students, and Dr. Daniela Cunha and Dr. Miriam Gonzaga for their availability and attention to our students.
