Oral and Public Health Clinic Project • PASOP
The Oral and Public Health Outpatient Project (PASOP) at Fernando Pessoa University was designed to fulfill three essential purposes:
• a pedagogical purpose (to allow students from various health courses to learn in a real-world situation);
• a civic purpose (enables students to develop a sense of solidarity through contact with serious hygiene and individual and public health deficiencies, as well as economic ones);
• a social purpose (by raising awareness among people about the responsibility of investing in health, so they don't have to spend so much on illness).
Its activity began in 2002/03 with a mobile unit, circulating throughout the country, to carry out free screenings in Dentistry, Clinical Analysis, Nutrition Sciences and Speech Therapy.
Since the start of its operations, PASOP has conducted more than 150,000 screenings.

Outpatient Clinic for Environment and Health Project • PAAS
The Environment and Health Outpatient Project (PAAS) was created with the aim of helping to implement, at the Fernando Pessoa University (UFP), a teaching-learning system for Environmental Engineering based on real-world experience ("learning by doing"), while simultaneously seeking to ensure that students' activities have an impact on society and that they can see some result of their learning process in the real world.
Following this paradigm, projects have been developed such as: the creation of an Environmental and Epidemiological Atlas for the municipality of Ponte de Lima, monitoring the quality of water for human consumption and/or public spaces in various parishes of the municipalities of Ponte de Lima, Vila do Conde and Porto, and assessment of the ecological status of the Ave estuary.
Within the framework of the cooperation protocol between UFP, LIPOR, the Portuguese Environment Agency, the municipalities located in the Tinto River basin (Valongo, Maia, Gondomar and Porto) and some entities directly related to water resources management (Águas de Gondomar, SA and Empresa de Águas do Município do Porto), a broad project for the evaluation of parameters relating to the ecological status of the Tinto River is underway.
