Internships and Career Opportunities

Meeting the needs of the job market

All undergraduate (Bachelor's) and integrated Master's degree programs at UFP include internship periods, whether in the form of curricular internships, clinical practice, clinical teaching, or other.

The Internships and Career Opportunities Office (GESP) at UFP is an organization responsible for the organization and management of internships for integrated courses in the Faculties of Science and Technology and Human and Social Sciences.

GESP is also dedicated to developing ties with institutions and companies, bridging the gap between academia and the professional market. In this context, it supports students in entering the workforce by providing information about the job market, helping with resume writing, and offering interview practice.

Organizations interested in receiving interns from Fernando Pessoa University should submit their requests via email. The formalization of the internships will be handled by GESP via email, indicating the students' names and courses.

The mission of the Fernando Pessoa Foundation Libraries is to provide access to the information resources necessary for teaching, research and learning, as well as to conserve and preserve their collections.

The pursuit of excellence, improved service, updated collections, support for our users, and increased visibility of our academic and scientific output are the main objectives of this service.

Located in the main building, it has been designated the Fernando Pessoa Library (BFP) since August 2012, following a regrouping of the libraries. Operating on an open access basis, it is organized according to the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC). It is intended for the FFP community, as well as any interested reader.

The BFP's documentary collection, comprised of books, periodicals, psychological tests, cartographic material, and reference works, covers areas of science and knowledge, organization, information, documentation, philosophy, psychology, religion, theology, social sciences, statistics, economics, commerce, law, politics, public administration, social assistance, education, mathematics, natural sciences, applied sciences, technology, art, recreation, entertainment, language, linguistics, literature, geography, and history. It also holds a considerable collection of works by Professor Alexandrino Severino, a Pessoa scholar.

The library has a reading room with a capacity of 68 seats, an upper level with 10 seats, a technical office, and two group work rooms (with a capacity of 15 seats) equipped with research stations with internet access, which are intended exclusively for UFP students and staff associated in groups, in order not to disturb the quiet environment that should exist in the reading room.

It has lockers, self-service printing, copying and scanning equipment, and wireless network coverage.

The BRR's documentary collection, comprised of books, periodicals, academic works, audiovisual materials (distributed across various fields of knowledge), and reference works, covers the areas of scientific research, ethics, natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, genetics, biophysics, virology, microbiology, botany), medical sciences (anatomy, physiology, health and hygiene, public health, pharmacology, physiotherapy, pathology, clinical medicine, nursing, speech therapy, dentistry, surgery), and the history of medicine.

The library has a reading room with seating for 54, and eight group work booths (with capacity for 70 people), equipped with research stations with internet access, which are intended exclusively for UFP students and staff associated in groups, in order not to disturb the quiet environment that should exist in the reading room.

The Institutional Repository (IR) of the Fernando Pessoa University aims to promote Open Access to the scientific output of its academic community, fostering the integration, sharing and visibility of the research carried out, while ensuring the preservation of its intellectual memory and safeguarding copyright.

Document deposit at the UFP Institutional Library is carried out through the options of self-archiving and archiving. In the first case, the authors (teachers/researchers) are responsible for depositing their intellectual output. In the second case, the deposit of documents is carried out by the Library (as is the case with academic works and UFP publications).

STUDENT PROVIDER

The student ombudsman's role, although without decision-making power, is to ensure compliance with the regulations in force at the university and to work to ensure that those involved in the teaching/learning process fulfill their duties and enjoy their rights, in a fair manner and in accordance with the systematic development of rigor, quality and innovation of the UFP's educational project.

As stipulated by article 17 of the UFP Statutes, the student ombudsman is responsible for:
• Analyze all areas of conflict within your scope of action;
• To seek, in collaboration with the directors of the organic units and other competent bodies and services, the most appropriate means for protecting the legitimate interests of students;
• To promote consistency in the decisions of university bodies regarding students, for similar situations;
• To point out any ambiguities found in rules and regulations, issuing suggestions for their interpretation, amendment or repeal;
• To advise the directors of the organic units in the delegated exercise of disciplinary power over students.

VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY

1. CANVAS E-learning platform
Canvas is a digital teaching/learning and academic collaboration environment that meets the needs of teachers and students in various pedagogical models.

2. COLIBRI/ZOOM Virtual Room
Colibri/ZOOM is a virtual room that allows for synchronous and interactive sessions such as classes, seminars, meetings, guidance sessions, and group work, thus establishing direct contact between teachers and students.

3. EDUCAST Recorded classes
Students have access to lectures recorded by instructors specifically for distance learning support, with an average duration of 15 minutes. These recordings consist of a dual screen displaying the speaker's video and presentations (ppt, prezi, etc.) simultaneously and are available on the e-learning system (Canvas).

4. TURNITIN A platform for identifying similarities that compares content produced by students with a database that includes internet sources, student work, scientific research, and publications.
