Takes place on the next day 8 June, Monday, at 5:00 PM, in format online and free entry, the webinar dedicated to the analysis of digital discourses of non-consumption and their influence on contemporary choices and lifestyles.
What if the best consumer advice, after all, was to buy less? On Instagram, reels and stories abound, teaching how to simplify wardrobes, resist impulse purchases, choose more affordable alternatives, or live better with fewer possessions. This webinar uses such content as a starting point to reflect on the digital discourses of non-consumption: their visual and verbal strategies, their ethical and emotional appeals, and also their paradoxes. After all, even when “buying less” is promoted, desires, choices, and lifestyles are often still being influenced.
Participation is free, offering an opportunity to reflect on the dynamics of digital communication, consumer behaviour, and the role of influencers in shaping trends and lifestyles.
Guest:
Elsa Simões She is Associate Professor with Aggregation in Communication Sciences at Fernando Pessoa University. With a PhD in Linguistics from Lancaster University (United Kingdom), she conducts her research in the areas of Communication Sciences, with a particular focus on advertising discourse.
