In accordance with the principles set out in EuroPsy – the European Certificate in Psychology, from the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations (EFPA), allowing access to the internship program of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists (OPP).
Clinical Psychology and Health Psychology are the two areas of Psychology that, together, tend to attract a larger number of professionals, not only in Brazil but also in Portugal. Beyond more traditional roles, such as psychological assessment and intervention (individual or group) with individuals with psychopathology and/or chronic illness, intervention with the client's significant others, the development and implementation of health (mental) education programs, the promotion of well-being in healthy individuals, collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams (e.g., in adherence to therapy, preparation for surgery or complex examinations), research from a biopsychosocial perspective, cognitive stimulation, among many others, they require specialized training, the relevance of which is increasingly recognized.
The team of lecturers specializing in Clinical/Health Psychology, as well as the existence of the Psychology Teaching Clinic and the Teaching Hospital, where lecturers and students play an active role, and the agreements with institutions where practical activities are developed (e.g., curricular internships) are some of the guarantees of the quality of the teaching-learning process of the Master's Degree in Clinical and Health Psychology.
Beyond academic activities, success in this Master's program requires the development of skills in psychological research, assessment, and intervention. Consequently, it is intended that students deepen their knowledge and develop their skills in the field of Clinical and Health Psychology. Thus, the practical component of the course will allow students to practice psychological assessment and intervention skills, as well as contribute to research in the area.
