In our country, the field of Psychology related to Justice is emerging as a professional area, largely due to the increasingly evident proximity between Psychology and Law. The concern for supporting victims of justice, for security, social well-being, and crime prevention makes the training of professionals in the field of justice psychology, with a special focus on the study of victims of violence and crime, a growing need. This training can significantly support multidisciplinary cooperation by contributing a more socio-psychological perspective to the study and analysis of legal phenomena.

The existence of a teaching staff with specialized training in the area and the practical component that can be seen associated with it, not only through the existence of a Pedagogical Psychology Clinic, but also through the practical experience of some of the teachers in the field of intervention in the Justice system, as technicians, forensic experts or even psychotherapists in these areas, lend credibility to the teaching aspect provided at the level of this Master's degree.

This master's program, in addition to strong academic support, requires continuous research work that complements the teaching activities. Therefore, one of the main objectives of this Master's program is to deepen knowledge in the fields of psychology related to justice, with the student's capacity for research and/or intervention with victims of violence and crime being central to achieving this goal.
