Physiotherapy student from ESS-FP presents her final degree project at an International Congress

Sofia Costa, a student on the Physiotherapy degree course, gave an oral presentation, via Zoom, on 21st May at the congress 5th International Scientific Conference “Applied Research Works of Young Researchers in Rehabilitation 2026”, intended for the presentation of the final dissertations of Physiotherapy degree students, at a European level.

The work, entitled “Predictive Equation for Maximal Inspiratory Pressure in Portuguese Adults: A Cross-Sectional Observational Study”, was developed under the guidance of lecturers Mariana Cervaens and Rui Vilarinho. The research inherent to the project aimed to develop a predictive equation for maximal inspiratory pressure (MIP) in healthy Portuguese adults aged 18 years or older, contributing to the creation of national reference values in this area. The cross-sectional observational study also sought to characterise the sample and analyse the relationship between inspiratory muscle strength and demographic and anthropometric variables.

Fernando Pessoa congratulates the student Sofia Costa on her participation in this International Congress and for the excellence she has demonstrated, at a moment that symbolises the culmination of her academic journey in the Bachelor's Degree in Physiotherapy.
