This symbolic moment marked the entry of the first EMCB cohort into clinical training, constituting a significant milestone in the School's journey. As a recent project, this was the first time students experienced this very significant stage of their academic career, marking the transition to a phase where scientific knowledge is combined with clinical practice and direct contact with patients.
The ceremony brought together students, families, patients, lecturers and academic leaders, with the attendance of the Rector of Fernando Pessoa University and the President of the Fernando Pessoa Foundation. In an environment of great significance, the presentation of the white coat symbolised the commitment of future doctors to ethics, responsibility, competence and person-centred care.
The Fernando Pessoa University and the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences are proud to support the training of their future doctors, preparing professionals of excellence, founded on scientific rigour, innovation and the humanist values that characterise the medical profession.
From this year onwards, the White Coat Ceremony will be integrated into the academic traditions of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, annually marking the beginning of clinical training for new generations of doctors.
