The School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (EMCB) of Fernando Pessoa University officially welcomed the 2026/2027 academic year in a day of encounter, sharing, and celebration for the academic community.
The initiative brought together students, family members, faculty members, and guests, marking the beginning of another year of learning and growth at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
The opening was presided over by Professor Dr. Lúcio Lara Santos, Director of the EMCB and Coordinator of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine, followed by the intervention of Professor Dr. Daniela Martins-Mendes, Deputy Coordinator of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine.
The Associação Académica da Universidade Fernando Pessoa, the Medical Students’ Nucleus and the Praxe Commission also gave voice to the students, reinforcing the importance of an academic community that is participatory, close and dynamic.
The moment also featured the interventions of Professor Dr. Eugénio Campos Ferreira, Rector of the Fernando Pessoa University, Professor Dr. Salvato Trigo, President of the Fernando Pessoa Foundation, and Dr. Pedro Ferraz, representing the Fernando Pessoa School of Medicine | Trofa Saúde Group, the partner entity and the hospital-anchor of the clinical training of the students of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine.
The initiative also included the 2025/2026 Academic Merit Recognition, rewarding the students who achieved the best final averages in each curricular year: Leonor Seifert, in the 1st year; Carolina Fontoura, in the 2nd year; and Catarina Teixeira Alves, in the 3rd year.
The EMCB congratulated the students who were distinguished for their academic performance and the commitment shown throughout the school year.
The afternoon ended in an atmosphere of conviviality and celebration, with a commemorative cake offered by the Allegro Group and a symbolic moment that brought together the academic community of EMCB.
The School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences also thanks the City Council of Gondomar for the offer made to its students.
