Commemorative session for Fernando Pessoa Day was held on June 12th
The Commemorative Session for Fernando Pessoa Day brought together teachers, staff, students, alumni, and their families, for an afternoon of celebration where academic and professional achievements were honoured.
The event took place on 12 June, at 5:00 PM, in the FP Auditorium. The academic procession marked the start of this initiative, a moment of great academic symbolism, where some of the institution's professors were present. After the procession to the auditorium, attendees were able to enjoy a musical performance by Eduardo Sorte and Inês Afonso.
Prof. Dr. Clarinda Festas (Director of ESSFP) and Prof. Dr. Eugénio Ferreira (Rector of UFP) participated in the opening of the commemorative session with a speech addressed to all those present. The premise was clear – to celebrate the academic community.
A significant moment followed – a tribute of recognition to Professor Fernando Gomes, for his contributions to Fernando Pessoa. With prolonged applause and a standing ovation from the audience, this moment reflected all the work developed by Professor Fernando Gomes at FP and his impact on the institution. Professor Salvato Trigo welcomed Professor Fernando Gomes onto the stage and, in his speech, reinforced the relevance of his entire career at the university.

Finally, the 2024/2025 Academic Merit Diplomas and Course Certificates and Doctoral Diplomas were awarded. The closing session was delivered by Prof. Doctor Salvato Trigo, followed by another musical performance by Eduardo Sorte and Inês Afonso, which brought the ceremony to a triumphant close. A Porto de Honra was served outside.
Fernando Pessoa thanks everyone who attended the ceremony, and once again congratulates all involved on their academic and professional paths.
