ABOUT THE COURSE
Context
This postgraduate course aims to qualify individuals to perform management and pedagogical and administrative functions in educational establishments.
This highly qualifying training is necessary for professionals (directors, advisors, managers and trainers) who are part of or wish to be part of the management teams of educational institutions, in accordance with the requirements of specialized training in School Administration and Educational Administration, enabling professionals "to perform management and pedagogical and administrative functions in educational establishments" (cf. paragraph b), of article 3, of Decree-Law no. 95/97, of April 23), as well as to exercise the different responsibilities for the management, administration and governing bodies of school clusters and non-clustered schools (cf. Decree-Law no. 137/2012, of July 2).
The development of your Study Plan encompasses different areas of school management and administration, framing them both nationally and internationally from a perspective of improving educational quality.
This perspective on improving the quality of education, in its global dimension, considers different aspects, such as classroom teaching, the school as a reference point for the educational project, leadership and management practices from an organizational learning perspective, as well as the contextualization of educational policies. For this reason, the set of curricular units that make up the course's study plan aims to contribute to the training of leaders oriented towards educational success in a comprehensive sense, taking as a reference Joint Order No. 198/99 of February 15th, which identifies the specific competences for this area of specialized training. We therefore intend that attending and obtaining a postgraduate diploma in this area of specialization will equip teachers for a career in school management and administration, leading them to the following competency profile, which will allow them to:
• To acquire solid and sustained knowledge in the areas of Human Resources and Financial Management, Administrative Law, Labor Law, and communication leadership skills, at the level of administration and management of the governing body of the educational institution.
• To lead the implementation of the School's Educational Project;
• To identify, evaluate, and consolidate the effectiveness of learning with a view to educational success;
• To acquire skills for effective leadership at the middle management level;
• To collaborate with the educational community by promoting actions that foster its development, ensuring the participation of all its stakeholders;
