Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) is a co-promoter of the international project MediSpeech – Improved efficiency in automated medical reporting to enhance doctor and patient experience, funded by the COMPETE 2030 program.
Integrated into the ITEA cluster of the Eureka Network, the initiative brings together 19 organizations from four countries – Portugal, the Netherlands, Turkey and the United Kingdom – and will run until 2028.
Coordinated at UFP by the doctor, researcher and lecturer at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (EMCB), Daniela Mendes, the multidisciplinary team is involved in creating a platform for real-time artificial intelligence and speech recognition. The solution allows converting the conversation between doctor and patient into text, automatically filling in the Electronic Health Records and generating clinical reports in various languages.
The main objective of MediSpeech is to reduce the administrative burden on healthcare professionals, freeing up time for patient care, personalizing diagnoses and promoting the humanization of medicine.
