Fernando Pessoa University and UTAD Unite to Reinforce Advanced Training in Health Sciences

The Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) has strengthened its commitment to advanced training and research in Health Sciences through the formalisation of a framework cooperation agreement and respective operational memorandums with the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). The strategic partnership will enable the joint development of new postgraduate training programmes, consolidating scientific cooperation between the two institutions.

The cooperation contemplates the joint operation of the Master's in Biomedicine and PhD in Biomedical and Health Sciences, bringing together the scientific, pedagogical and technological skills of UFP and UTAD to promote high-quality advanced training and foster the development of research projects with scientific, technological and social impact.

The protocol signing took place at the facilities of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), attended by the President of the Fernando Pessoa Foundation, Prof. Dr. Salvato Trigo, the Rector of the Fernando Pessoa University, Prof. Dr. Eugénio Campos Ferreira, and the Rector of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Prof. Dr. Jorge Ventura.

On the occasion, the Rector of Fernando Pessoa University, Prof. Dr. Eugénio Campos Ferreira, highlighted the relevance of this partnership for the future of both institutions, considering that its formalisation represents the recognition of the quality of the research developed by both and of their potential to reinforce advanced teaching in the area of Health and Biomedical Sciences.

This view is equally shared by the President of the Fernando Pessoa Foundation, Professor Salvato Trigo, who oversaw the signing of this strategic agreement, which reinforces cooperation between two higher education institutions committed to academic excellence, research, and innovation.

O Master's in Biomedicine will provide specialised training in areas such as Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Genetics and Clinical Microbiology, preparing professionals to meet the emerging challenges of biomedical research, laboratory diagnostics and technological innovation.

I already PhD in Biomedical and Health Sciences, Accredited by the Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education (A3ES), it is intended for graduates, masters and professionals in the Health and Biomedical Sciences fields who wish to deepen their scientific activity and develop high-level research.

Beyond the creation of this joint training offer, the partnership will enable the sharing of knowledge, laboratory resources, infrastructure, and scientific skills between the two universities, promoting collaborative research projects and reinforcing the capacity to respond to current challenges in health, science, and innovation.

With this partnership, Fernando Pessoa University reaffirms its commitment to excellent training, scientific research development and the strengthening of cooperation networks between higher education institutions, contributing to knowledge production and the training of highly qualified professionals in the Health Sciences fields.
