The Master's program in Biomedicine, in partnership with the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), through the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, offers excellent training in the field of Biomedicine, especially focused on clinical laboratory medicine with knowledge and skills at the interface of Medicine/Health/Biology, involving Genetics, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genomics, Human Health and Pathology. Graduates of this program are distinctive in terms of research, technological innovation, and the improvement of services they can provide to the community, possessing the tools to respond to current social challenges in the areas of health and technology.

• To train graduates to solve problems based on knowledge and skills at the interface of Medicine/Health/Biology, involving Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genomics, Human Health and Pathology.
• To provide skills to adequately respond to current social challenges in the areas of health and technology, including innovative and up-to-date laboratory training.
• To train masters capable of designing research projects (basic science, research laboratories) and clinical medicine projects (applied science, clinical diagnosis), developing them with the help of specialists, technologies and advanced instrumentation in the field of biomedicine.
• To train graduates capable of integrating into the national and European job market, or pursuing a research career through their involvement in scientific projects and doctoral programs.

A graduate in Biomedicine will have the technical and scientific skills to work in both fundamental science laboratories and applied/translational science laboratories, as well as in clinical medicine laboratories. A Master's degree holder in Biomedicine may also work in the design and conception of research projects (basic science, in research laboratories) and clinical medicine projects (applied science, clinical diagnosis).

ERASMUS+ EXCHANGE

Students at the Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) who meet the eligibility criteria have the opportunity to undertake periods of study and/or internships through international mobility programs.

International student study periods are carried out at higher education institutions outside of Portugal with which UFP maintains student exchange agreements under the Erasmus+ Program (within the European area), or other existing bilateral exchange agreements.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

a) Holders of a bachelor's or master's degree or legal equivalent in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Genetics, Medicinal Chemistry, Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry or other related degrees considered relevant by the Scientific Councils of both Institutions, upon proposal of the Course Committee;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, resulting from a first cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process*;
c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of a bachelor's degree by the Scientific Councils of both Schools, of both Universities*;
d) Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum* that is recognized as demonstrating the capacity to undertake this cycle of studies by the Scientific Councils of both Schools, of both Universities.
