On April 10th, the “Apprentice for a Day” activity took place, making it the 5th consecutive year of partnership between the Fernando Pessoa Foundation and the Municipality of Lousada.
Following on from the DICAS programme, another edition of the “Find Your Way and Go For It” project took place. This project aims to prevent school dropouts and promote vocational guidance for students, supporting more conscious and suitable choices for their future careers. In this context, during the Easter holidays, the “Apprentice for a Day” initiative was held, aimed at 9th-year students from the public schools in the municipality of Lousada.
FP received a group of students who expressed interest in the field of Medicine, with particular emphasis on the specialisms of anaesthesiology, cardiology, surgery, dermatology, general medicine, neonatology, neurology, orthopaedics, paediatrics and pneumology. The group was welcomed by FP's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, which included an institutional reception and the presentation of an FP welcome kit. This was followed by a guided tour of the Fernando Pessoa Hospital School, guaranteed by the hospital team.
This initiative provided young people with the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the professional reality, highlighting the importance of commitment, adaptability, continuous learning, and the desire for daily improvement, essential skills for a professional future.
