Lecturer Christophe Soares present at the 8th Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Fair, in Tomar

The 8th edition of FrEEE – the Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Fair, brought together various institutions and entities at the Pavilhão Jácome Ratton on April 29th and 30th. The Fernando Pessoa University was represented by Professor Christophe Soares, Coordinator of the Computer Engineering Degree at FP, who participated in the event at the invitation of the Tomar Municipal Council.

Integrated into FrEEE's programme, the lecturer led the workshop “Creating with Artificial Intelligence: First Steps” on 29 April.

The workshop, in a practical format, had the main objective of giving participants, in just one hour, a concrete foundation to use generative AI in a useful and critical way, focusing on four families of tools: text, image, audio/video and vibe coding. In terms of the target audience, the session was designed for secondary school students with no prior technical background, using accessible language but without oversimplification.

It wasn’t a lecture about AI, but a session where attendees learned, step-by-step, how to build something real. As a common thread, a fictional brand (“Honey & Chaos”) was developed live, going through all the stages: defining the offering and copy, visual identity, video advert and website published.

A simple framework was presented – Framework P-T-C-F (Paper · Task · Context · Format) –, which allows anyone to write prompts effective, transforming vague requests into professional results.

Beyond the tools, three essential precautions were discussed: hallucinations (information verification), privacy (personal and institutional data), and authorship/academic integrity. This dimension is, in Professor Doctor Christophe's view, as important as the technical part.

The workshop's final message was clear: everything presented — from language models to image or video generation platforms — was built by people with a computer science background. Knowing how to program is, nowadays, what distinguishes those who master these tools from those who merely use them by imitation.
