As part of the Curricular Unit of Exercise and Health, students of the 2nd year of the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine at Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) visited the Sports Physiology Laboratory of the Faculty of Sports at the University of Porto (FADEUP).
This experience, which took place on October 7th, provided students with the opportunity to directly interact with advanced equipment and methodologies for assessing physical fitness, complementing the knowledge acquired in the classroom context and reinforcing the importance of physical exercise in promoting health. Among the assessments explored are body composition and bone mineral density analysis through DEXA, the cardiopulmonary stress test, and muscle strength assessment using strength platforms, dynamometers, and isokinetic equipment. A practical learning experience that brings students closer to technology and scientific evidence, contributing to a deeper understanding of the relationship between physical exercise and health.
