Roundtable Discussion: The Healthcare Professional as an Ethical Pillar in the Age of AI

This roundtable discussion proposes a reflection on the emerging ethical challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into contemporary clinical practice and scientific thought, highlighting the irreplaceable role of healthcare professionals in preserving human dignity and ensuring ethical and humanised clinical practice. The session will take place on 13 May 2026, at 3:30 PM, in the Library of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the Fernando Pessoa University, in Gondomar, and features the following guests: Prof. Inês Godinho (National Council of Ethics for Life Sciences) Dr. Karen Vabo (Radiology Physician and lecturer on the Integrated Master's in Medicine at the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the Fernando Pessoa University) Prof. Dr. Paulo Rurato (Data Protection Officer and lecturer at the Fernando Pessoa University).

The moderation is being handled by Professor Natália Oliva Teles (Institute of Genetics of Porto). The opening of the session is being handled by Professor Teresa Brandão, a member of the International Chair of Bioethics.
