Two researchers associated with the UFP – Márcia Carvalho and Ana Catarina Silva – have been recognized for their research work in this year’s edition of the World’s Top 2% Scientists, a prestigious ranking compiled by Stanford University (USA), in collaboration with the publisher Elsevier.
The report highlights the top 2% researchers worldwide, evaluating the impact of their scientific output. The results are presented in two categories: impact over the career and impact in a single year.
The presence of these researchers gives visibility to the influence of their publications in the scientific community and contributes to the international projection of the research developed at UFP.
O “Top 2% Scientists in the World” coordinated by researcher John P. A. Ioannidis and published by Elsevier (Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators), the ranking is based on normalized citation impact data extracted from the Scopus platform. The recent update uses author profiles registered until August 1, 2026, accounting for career metrics up to the end of 2025 and citations obtained during the 2025 calendar year, resulting in a selection restricted to the top one hundred thousand world-renowned scientists.
