The Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) informs that the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (EMCB-UFP) has officially changed its name. Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (FMCB-UFP), With effects starting on 27th of Octobre 2026.
This change stems from the adaptation of the designation of the organic unit to the current legal framework, namely Law No. 32/2026 of July 20, and the Statutes of the Fernando Pessoa University, which establish the designation of faculties for the organic units of face-to-face teaching.
The change in designation does not imply the creation of a new organizational unit, ensuring the full continuity of its institutional identity, academic, scientific and pedagogical activity, as well as the study cycles, projects, resources and other institutional commitments.
Professor Dr. Lúcio Lara Santos remains the Director of the organic unit, now named the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, continuing the current mandate.
This amendment integrates the process of updating and harmonizing the organizational structure of the Fernando Pessoa University with the applicable legal and statutory framework.
From this date, the designation Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (FMCB-UFP) becomes officially used in communications and the various institutional support materials of the University.
