The lecturer Ana Isabel Sani participated as a guest and speaker at the opening table of the Seminar “Conecta(r): resignifying trauma and signifying autonomy”, promoted by the Conecta – Acompanhar e Partilhar project, which took place on October 13 at the Manuel António da Mota Foundation in Porto.
The intervention titled “The impact of adverse childhood experiences on children’s and young people’s well-being: implications for their inclusion” was part of the panel “Understanding to Resignify”, focused on understanding the effects of adverse childhood experiences on development trajectories and the construction of autonomy. The initiative brought together different perspectives on the reality of children and young people with residential care experiences, promoting the articulation between scientific knowledge, technical frameworks, and intervention practices. Throughout the seminar, the importance of preventing retraumatization and promoting safe, consistent, and humane care contexts capable of fostering recovery, autonomy, and lifelong development was highlighted.
This participation reinforces the commitment of the Fernando Pessoa University to the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge of social relevance, particularly in the field of protecting and promoting the rights and well-being of children and young people.
