Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) has approved another research project with TexBioSafe – Biological monitoring of hospital textiles, whose principal investigator at the institution is the lecturer and researcher Ricardo Magalhães. Dedicated to the microbiological monitoring of hospital textiles, the research aims to contribute to reducing the risk of infections and the spread of antibiotic resistance. The project aims to develop and validate an innovative analytical methodology based on qPCR for the microbiological monitoring of hospital textiles, bridging technical and regulatory gaps with a sensitive, specific and economically viable solution.
Coordinated by Biogerm, S.A., the project runs from September 15, 2026, to September 14, 2029 and is funded by NORTE 2030, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
