Fernando Pessoa University (UFP) will be included in the new Porto Action Plan. City Friendly for Older People 2026–2028, Promoted by the Municipality of Porto through two initiatives of research and community intervention in the field of longevity.
Among a total of 206 applications submitted to call Promoted by the local government, the EMBRACE project, coordinated by Professor Carina Fernandes, and Porto Prateado: Traditional and Digital Friendships, coordinated by Professor Rute Meneses, were selected.
The integration of these initiatives reinforces UFP's ongoing commitment to transferring knowledge to society and to working closely with local entities to improve the quality of life of the elderly population.
The Porto Cidade Amiga das Pessoas Idosas 2026–2028 Action Plan aims to promote a more inclusive, participatory city adapted to the challenges of active aging, providing a higher quality of life for the older population.
The official public presentation of the Action Plan took place on September 28 at the Coliseu do Porto Ageas, as part of the V Jornadas Porto Cidade Amiga das Pessoas Idosas. The event also marked the launch of the 2nd edition of Week Without Age, promoted by the Porto City Council until October 2.
