How to represent the pain that cannot be seen? The sculpture Melancholy (2012), by Albert György, will be the starting point for an open class with Álvaro Campelo and Eunice Pais on November 18, 2026, as part of the Compor Mundos 2026-27 cycle.
Dedicated to the theme of «Art and Health», the session proposes a reflection on psychological suffering, melancholy, and existential emptiness, exploring the capacity of artistic expression to make an inner pain visible.
The dialogue between art, neurosciences and the humanities will allow us to address the relationships between loss, addiction and the search for meaning, while also questioning the boundaries between sadness and depression.
An opportunity to think about how art can contribute to a deeper understanding of suffering and the human condition.
