6th edition

Presentation

In a time of great challenges, when it is urgent to take care of our diet for our health, well-being, and the health of the planet, the course of Nutritional Sciences The Faculty of Health Sciences at Fernando Pessoa University is promoting the sixth edition of the Pessoa Nutrition Competition, with the aim of encouraging secondary school students to prepare healthy and sustainable dishes.
In this edition, the theme is "Soup." Soup plays a central role in Portuguese culture, being an almost obligatory presence at the table. In Portugal, soup represents comfort, tradition, and sharing – from the simple caldo verde to the rich sopa da pedra, each region has its typical recipes, passed down from generation to generation. From a nutritional point of view, soup is a very balanced food. Usually prepared with a base of vegetables, it provides vitamins, minerals, and fiber essential for the proper functioning of the body. Furthermore, it helps with hydration, promotes satiety, and is an excellent way to increase daily vegetable consumption. Because it is light and nutritious, Portuguese soup is also an ally in a healthy and balanced diet, reinforcing the link between tradition and well-being.

Therefore, we challenge secondary school students to prepare a soup. It is important that it be classified as sustainable and nutritionally balanced.

The Nutrition Pessoa Competition is promoted by the Nutrition Sciences course at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Fernando Pessoa University. This competition aims to encourage secondary school students to create healthy and sustainable dishes based on the theme proposed for each edition, awarding prizes to the three best dishes developed.

Recipients

The Nutrition Person Competition is open to all students attending secondary schools, public or private. Applications are submitted individually by each student with the support of a supervising teacher. Each student is limited to one application.

General rules

Each student must prepare a dish according to the theme stipulated for each edition of the competition. The dishes presented must be prepared by the students themselves and be aligned with the principles of healthy and sustainable eating, serving as an example of a recipe that can be prepared by the general population and be accessible to all. Travel and related expenses for the presentation of the finalist dishes at the Fernando Pessoa University will be the responsibility of the nominated students and/or secondary schools. Enrolled students accept all the rules and conditions of these regulations.
